Distribution
HLUK owns two distribution centres, Bookpoint and Littlehampton Book Services. The two centres handle both group and non group work by offering a fully comprehensive service to its wide base of publishers. The sites handle in excess of 60 million books each year, covering export markets and the UK.
Bookpoint
Bookpoint was founded in 1973 to supply distribution services and in 1992 the business was purchased by Headline Publishing Group to offer high quality distribution of product to the Book Industry.
After the merger of Hodder & Stoughton and Headline in 1993, the decision was taken by the newly created Hodder Headline Group to centralise its distribution at Bookpoint on Milton Park. In June 1999, WH Smith plc acquired the Hodder Headline group including Bookpoint. The business continues to run as an independent supplier of distribution services. In 2004 WH Smith sold the Hodder Group including Bookpoint to Hachette Livre UK.
The main focus of the business is the provision of high quality distribution services primarily on behalf of the publishing divisions of Hodder Headline but also for a number of third party client publishers.
Bookpoint employs 260 staff, operating from a 7.3 acre site. The business delivers a comprehensive customer service including an export department and a direct service department handling orders straight to the end consumer.

Littlehampton Book Services
Littlehampton Book Services has been trading as a distribution operation for twenty seven years and as the name suggests it was originally based in the town of Littlehampton on the West Sussex coast up until 1999 when it moved into new and much larger premises in Worthing.
As one of the leading book distributors in the UK, Littlehampton Book Services provides its publishers and customers with dynamic and service oriented, leading edge, IT and operational excellence.
